Personal Mom Coaching

In the last few weeks I’ve been fast and furiously working on a project that I’m getting really excited about. I couldn’t wait to tell you about it. As many of you know, my latest book, “Taking Care of the ‘Me’ in Mommy” will be released next month. What most of you don’t know is that I’m simultaneously opening a new section of my website for readers who purchase the book, read it, and want to make some new habits.
There will be twenty-two topics from which to choose, including Scripture Memorization, Eating Healthy, Exercise, Hobbies, Fun, Organization, Housekeeping, Cooking, Finances, Marriage, and Asking For Help.
I’ll be sending out an E-letter as soon as I have the book in stock and up on the website for purchase. After that, the whole “Personal Mom Coaching” section operates on the honor system. Besides, I believe you will have much more lasting results if you read the whole book and choose from the hundreds of “realistic ideas for becoming a better wife and mother.”
Before you get even more confused, let me share the final chapter of the book with you. (Yes, I’m actually encouraging you to read the last page first!)
Personal Mom Coaching
Too often we read a book, nod our heads in agreement, purpose in our hearts to do better, try harder, be different, and really change this time, only to turn the last page, close the book, and lay it down somewhere alongside our best intentions. We want to implement the new things (or old things) we’ve learned but life starts too early in the morning, or at the same time our children are bickering, or after we’ve dropped into bed and given our husbands a kiss (or the exhausted kiss-off.) Our hearts are in the right place but our bodies are usually somewhere looking for a nap or a good cup of coffee.
We head off in the right direction, yet very quickly stumble and fall over the demands of the day without the energy to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps. We need help! A really wise man once said, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 ESV)
I would like to be that friend for you. May I walk beside you on this road to taking care of the “Me” in Mommy? It is always more fun to share an experience with a friend. Who wants to go on a journey by themselves when they can have someone take the trip with them? If that sounds like fun to you then meet me at www.LisaWhelchel.com, click on the “Personal Mom Coach” heading, and I’ll be there waiting.
Okay, so I’ll virtually be there waiting, but we can still have a good time and support one another. Here’s how it works. Once you’re inside the special web section designed especially for my Taking Care of the Me in Mommy friends, we’ll start building some good habits.
Let’s start our journey of becoming better moms by strengthening our spirits. Choose one area to focus on your spiritual walk: Prayer, Bible Reading, Journaling, or Worship. They say it takes three weeks to establish a habit. So, for the next twenty-one days you will receive an email from me each morning. Within that email will be a friendly reminder, a word of encouragement, a practical tip and a prayer.
Because we not only need support, we also need someone with enough tough love to hold us accountable for the commitment we’ve made, I’m also going to include a special “We did it!” link within the email. I use the pronoun “we” to remind you that you are not alone on this journey. We are in this together, and more importantly it is God who will supply you with the strength you need to accomplish your goals.
Hebrews 10:24 says, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” It is not my intention to nag you or make you feel guilty if you just aren’t able to accomplish your goal for the day, but I do want to stir you up a bit. By including the “We did it!” link, I’m hoping to give you just that added incentive to find time for yourself, even if some days it is simply for the thrill of being able to click that link and send the announcement of your “good works” so I may rejoice with you. At the end of twenty-one days you, not only will have established a wonderful habit, but you will also receive a multimedia celebration “Congratulations!” card from me. (Whoo-hoo!)
Now it is time to tackle another area. This time why don’t you choose something from the Body or Soul areas? Have you had your annual female check-up? If not, then choose the “Do Something For Yourself” category on the website and expect me to nag, I mean, gently remind you every morning in your computer InBox until you’ve made the appointment and can click the “We did it!” link. (Remember, not only are you taking care of your health but you are also guaranteed an hour of peace and quiet in the waiting room reading magazines.)
We can keep this friendship up for as long as you are willing to work on habits that will minister to you so you can better minister to your family. The Apostle Paul writes to his friends in Rome that he desires to see them and “be helped on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for awhile.” (Romans 15:24 ESV) That’s how I feel! I’m really looking forward to enjoying our new online friendship and, hopefully, helping you on your journey along the way. God Speed.
