Worship Journal Part 3
It has been awhile since I shared any of my personal worship journal with you. I’m really enjoying guided journals these days. If you don’t have one, I would recommend you look into this form of journaling. It is so much easier than journaling with a blank page staring you in the face. I also notice that I record thoughts and feelings that I probably never would otherwise.
These excerpts are from Stormie Omartian’s Prayer and Praise Journey Journal. The underline sentences are the prompts from the journal and the rest of the text is what I’ve written.
According to 2 Thessalonians 1:11, how should you pray with regard to your calling?
Lord, You have given me the gift of a covenant relationship with you which includes forgiveness and all the riches of heaven at my disposal. I am not worthy in myself, this is a gift from You. But I do ask, by the power of Your Spirit living in me, that You would make me worthy by Christ’s blood and resurrection of the high calling as child of God. May I walk in a way that brings honor to You as Your child. Start in my heart, purify my motives, give me Your desires, let me know Your will and then bring these things to pass by Your power that others may desire to walk as your children and You as their acknowledged God.
What is Psalm 90:17 for? Write this verse out in your own words as a prayer ot God for the work you do or want to do.
Lord, my God, Fill me with the spirit of Your beauty. Make my words and actions beautiful because You breathe through me and pour through my pores. May everything I write, speak, parent, lead, create or do in any way, filter through Your holy beauty. If it is tainted with anything then let it fall away. But if it is inspired, breathed, and brought to life by Your Spirit then make it last and grow eternal fruit. I specifically ask You to make any books that I’ve written that You choose to last a long time, reach a lot of people, and make an eternal impact on the reader.
Read 1 Peter 4:10. Write a prayer asking God to use your gifts for His glory and then praise Him that He has a purpose for your life.
Father, thank You that You have given me many gifts and the confidence to use them. I am so grateful for the doors of opportunity You have opened for me since I was a child to use my gifts. Lord, I pray that You would not only continue to give me opportunities to use my gifts, but also, to endue them with greater power and anointing that You might use me to touch other people so they might have an eternally significant encounter with You. Show me if there are any gifts I am not using for Your glory and give me the faith to step out.
According to Titus 2:11-14, how does God want us to live? Why did Jesus sacrifice Himself for us?
God, show me where there are shadows in my speech, walk, and/or thoughts. Give me the strength to make the choices to obey You and be like You. Fill me with Your Spirit so I might be so content with You that I don’t lust, covet, or want the things of the world. Don’t allow me to grow complacent, rather to see with Your eyes and feel with Your heart and act with Your power. Purify me and keep my eyes on the goal – You return and eternal rewards. Thank You for redeeming me from my sin and for changing me by Your grace and power. Thank You that I can receive Your love and know that I’m special to You. Set me on fire for Your purposes.
Spend a few moments today with Galatians 4:4-5. Why did Jesus come? What can we become because of His redemption?
Jesus came “to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.” I received a new revelation of this verse today. My children do not have to obey me, follow my rules, or do right and good for me to love them. I love them because they are my children. I love them even when I don’t like them. I love them even when they are being rebellious. I love them because they are mine. I have hope for who they are becoming. It is something that transcends the natural – it is spiritual. Now I can understand a bit more clearly how God can feel this way about me.
