Latest Happenings
With Tucker’s big birthday celebration reportings, it has been awhile since I caught you up with the latest happenings around the Cauble household. So much has been going on but I have to admit that I haven’t been very good about documenting everything with photos. Sorry.
Let’s see…where do I begin? Well, I went on a scrapbook retreat with my friend, Amy, to a wonderful Bed & Breakfast in Canton, Texas. We ate too much, slept too little, and I ended up completing sixty pages. (All except for the journaling which I do on the computer when I get home because my handwriting looks like a fourth grader.)
Besides scrapbooking, my latest addiction is racquetball. I can’t get enough of it. I have been playing for two hours once a week but I could play for two hours every day and still want to play more. I love it!
We did our first MomTime Getaway with LifeWay in Austin. It was so much fun. We all led worship together again. I just love ministering with my family. I’m really looking forward to the three Getaways this fall. I hope you live close enough to one of them to come join the fun, faith, fellowship – and chocolate fountain!
Happy News/Sad News – We sold “Buster.” This is happy news is because the payment for the RV plus the insurance and storage costs were just too much to handle for the few times we were able to use it. The sad news is, we all felt like a big chunk of our hearts drove off with Bill (the new owner) and Buster. We created, probably, our happiest family memories in that coach and it brought us so much joy every time we piled in and hit the road. To console ourselves, Steve and I are already envisioning what the 2016 model of the Allegro Bus will look like (after three teenagers and college tuitions are behind us.)
The kids have been busy. While I was out of town last weekend they attend the wedding of our student ministry’s worship leader and danced the night away. (I know you probably don’t care as much as we do about Derric and Megan’s big day but I needed an excuse to post this handsome picture of my little darlings.)
As soon as Steve and I got back into town it was time to prepare for the Super Bowl Party we hosted for the youth group’s North Campus small groups. We had 40 teenagers, 20 bags of chips, 15 bottles of Coke, 10 pizzas and about that many ice cream sundae toppings. Steve and I just kept looking at each other and smiling. This is exactly the reason we built this house and we are so grateful the Lord gives us the opportunity to have some many teenagers enjoying it.
Lets see, what else…
I had jury duty last week. That was interesting. Not! Actually, after sitting through all of the preliminaries, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get chosen. It would have made for a great journal entry and homeschool field trip.
We have enjoyed some wonderful opportunities for ministry lately. I’ve spoken a couple of times for the International Children’s Pastors’ Conference. What a wild crowd and what a privilege! Last weekend I was in Roswell, New Mexico and was blown away by the amazing job the church did. They had a ton of ladies show up and treated them like queens for the weekend. Between the Pedicures & Parrifin, Bunko & Bingo, Scrapbooking & Stamping, Chocolate & More Chocolate, I thought I’d died and gone to Heaven. Not exactly, but close, especially when God showed up and moved so sweetly to draw so many ladies into a personal relationship with Him.
Another really fun thing happened recently. I was away writing for a couple of days at Al & Tracy Denson’s ranch in Sherman, TX. One night, I was in the bunkhouse, typing away Donut started barking and I heard a horn honking outside. I opened the door and Al was there shouting, “Get ready, I’ll be back to pick you up in thirty minutes.” I quickly hopped in the shower and got ready just in time to hear a helicopter landing just a few hundred yards from my front door. Al, Tracy, and a couple of really great guys, kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride to dinner on Lake Texhoma on the Texas/Oklahoma border. What an awesome memory!
Well, that’s a snapshot of 2006 so far for the Cauble family.
