The Busy Grandma’s Guide to Prayer
I am away this weekend writing another book, "The Busy Grandma’s Guide to Prayer." You may ask, How can you write a book for grandmas? Good question. The truth is, I can’t. That is why I'm writing this book with my mother - the most wonderful grandmother in the world.
Since this book is laid out exactly like "The Busy Mom’s Guide to Prayer," my mom and I met last week and came up with six new categories and 120 new subcategories. I have already chosen all of the Scripture verses to go with each prayer focus and I'm beginning to write the prayers.

My mother will write the main introduction to the book. She will also rewrite any of the prayers that I have written that might not adequately reflect a grandmother's heart or point of view. I will then finish up by writing an introduction to my mother and some simple pointers for how to use this prayer guide and journal.
I am thrilled at this opportunity to work with my mom. She is an amazing grandmother and fabulous writer. I can't wait to show her off to all of my friends. Since our deadline for this book is this week, I would be extremely grateful if you would say a prayer for both of us. Please pray that we will be able to meet our deadline in the middle of both of our very busy schedules and that the Lord would write His heart through us with anointing, creativity, sensitivity, encouragement, enthusiasm, and power.
Here is a sample from Day One of the book:
Prayer for Self
Prayer Focus - Finances
Scripture Inspiration - "So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones." Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
Genesis 50:21 ESV
Praying the Word - I am grateful, Lord, for your provision. Thank You for understanding my worry and anxieties about money and my desire to buy things for my grandchildren. I will trust You to take care of me and these precious little ones.
Prayer Prompt - Heavenly Father, I know that You will supply all of my needs. Would you also provide some of my "wants," especially the things I want to share with my grandchildren? I will rest in Your ability to secure my tomorrows and bless my todays. Teach me how to be a good steward of my finances and help me find the balance between saving for the future and living open-handedly.
Prayer for Adult Children
Prayer Focus - Priorities
Scripture Inspiration - But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33 ESV
Praying the Word - Father, keep my children's eyes focused on you above all else. Help them to trust You for all their needs and know they will find them met in You.
Prayer Prompt - Give my children a vision of their lives from Your perspective. Help them to see what is truly important and enable them to invest their time, resources, and affections in those things which are of eternal value. As they pursue a relationship with You, first and foremost, and then focus on their family, help them to trust You to take care of all the rest.
Prayer for Grandchildren
Prayer Focus - Physical Safety
Scripture Inspiration - The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.
Psalm 121:7 ESV
Praying the Word - Thank You, Lord, for protecting my grandchildren from all harm and allowing them to live out the fullness of the days You have planned for them.
Prayer Prompt - Almighty God, place a hedge of protection around my dear grandchildren. Assign angels to guard them wherever they go, all day and all night. Keep them from accidents, attacks from the enemy, or harm in any way. Go before them, clear their path and make it straight and safe. Thank You, Jesus.
Prayer for Grandchildren's Character
Prayer Focus - Self-Control
Scripture Inspiration - A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.
Proverbs 25:28 ESV
Praying the Word - Father, build up my grandchildren's self-control so that might be protected from the inside-out.
Prayer Prompt - Strengthen my grandchildren in the area of self-control. Enable them to deny their flesh and choose Your Spirit. Teach them to respond righteously, live moderately, and triumph victoriously. I know this kind of life can only be lived by the help of Your supernatural empowering. That is what I'm asking for on behalf of my grandchildren.
Prayer for Grandchildren's Future
Prayer Focus - Children
Scripture Inspiration - That the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children.
Psalm 78:6 ESV
Praying the Word - I pray in advance that my great- grandchildren will walk according to Your ways and pass on this godly heritage to my great-great grandchildren.
Prayer Prompt - Lord, thank You in advance for great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren! Allow me to go so far as to pray for my seed until Your return. Answer my prayers now that each and every child that carries my DNA will know you intimately, walk with You personally, and serve You humbly.
Prayer for Children of the World
Prayer Focus - Sexually Abused
Scripture Inspiration - Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you.
2 Kings 20:5 ESV
Praying the Word - Father, I know You see and hear each child's cry in this world who has been sexually abused. Hold them and heal them by Your sweet grace and power.
Prayer Prompt - My heart breaks, Lord, and I know Yours does, too. I am overwhelmed, but I know You are not. It is within Your power to comfort, heal, and deliver each child who has been sexually abused. I pray for forgiveness, redemption, healing and wholeness to be imparted as they encounter Your tender love and victorious plan for their life.
So, can you think of any Grandma's who might enjoy this book? I sure hope so. It won't be released until next fall, but I'll keep you posted when it is available. Thanks, again, for your prayers over the next few days.
