Christmas Review
I still want to talk about Christmas. I know it feels like long ago but I haven’t had the chance to fill you in on our holiday fun. Because I have so much to tell and I don’t want to write another book in the process, I’ll simply share the highlights with bullet points and pictures.
This year we got all of our decorating completed during the Thanksgiving
holiday week. It took us the whole week so it was awesome to enjoy it the
whole season.
Clancy and I visited “Super Suppers,” “The
Dinner Station,” and “Dream Dinners.” We made over 30 dishes
in all and enjoyed them throughout the whole season.
The whole family bought
and delivered presents through the “Angel
Tree” program at our church. What a blessing. We plan to do this every
year.
My kids are too big but that didn’t stop me from getting Donut’s
picture taken with Santa Claus.
I hosted a Cookie Exchange and Clancy and
I baked and decorated dozens of Christmas cookies.
We hosted a ton of parties
at our home this year. The first one was my family game party then our annual
MomTime Christmas party when we invite the husbands to join in the fun. We
played Bingo at both of these parties. We also invited all of the neighbors
on our street to an Open House party. Clancy had her own personal little
party, too. In addition, we had a half-dozen dinner parties with different
permutations of family.
It was awesome to have my brother, Casey,
home for Christmas. He is so much fun. We worked on a scrapbook to give his
girlfriend for Christmas. (Over New Year’s he proposed, so now she’s
his fiancé.)
Casey is a very talented artist. He gave each of us a
very personal painting for Christmas. I plan to show you more of his artwork
in a later journal entry.
Family is the best part of the holidays for me.
It was so good to spend time with my mom (who is usually working too hard
to see,) my dad, stepdad, cousins, step brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles,
brothers and just about every other blood relative.
Tucker and Haven played
a small coffee shop gig between Christmas and New Year’s. I was so
proud of them.
Did I mention that in the middle of all of these activities I was finishing up the “Taking Care of the ‘Me’ in Mommy” book? Just a wee bit of stress. I hope you like it and it ends up being very helpful for many moms. Would you be interested in helping me by writing an endorsement it?
If you think you might have some time to read in the next couple of weeks, send me an email (under the “Coffee Talk” drop-down menu.) I’ll send you a copy of the Introduction, the Table of Contents, a couple of chapters and “Rest Stops.” Then, if you like it you can say so and the publisher may put your endorsement on the book. (If they do, they’ll send you a free book as a small token of thanks.)
I hope your Christmas was wonderful and your New Year is looking even better!
